Imaginary Play

We’ve started “blocking” (new terminology for me) for the local play that I’m in. Since we don’t have the set built yet, the director put tape on the floor to represent doors, windows, and staircases. This is my first time apart from grade school Christmas pageants to be in a play. So far, with all the imaginary walls, doors and props, everything reminds me of when I was a kid playing with my friends…and the bossiest kid is the director.

She's got personality.

While I was over at my brothers house the other day, my youngest niece and I were dancing and singing "I know you" from Sleeping Beauty when I realized I needed to record her singing before she actually learns how to sing.

I also filmed my oldest niece singing. It starts out a little slow, but it's worth watching.

"Oh no, she didn't!" Yeah, she did lick the camera.

Arkansas Weekend

This past weekend I went with Lindsay, Shay, and Lindsay's mom, Janice, to visit Lindsay's brother and his wife who are expecting their first baby. We went to help them prepare their little nursery. Saturday, we girls mostly worked on making the bumper pad and bed skirt for the crib. Then Sunday, we went to the park and downtown area for Lindsay to take some pictures of Taylor and Julia.

Cooking/Hearing Ladies

We volunteered to cook at the Christian Deaf Women's Conference this weekend. All of us pictured here are not deaf. There was a little bit of a language barrier with those who were deaf - made for an interesting and comical weekend!

Kitchen-tage

Things were a little slow in the kitchen this weekend while we were cooking at the Christian Deaf Women's Conference, so Lindz and I started filming Mantage videos. I don't know how to clip videos together, so I just placed my palm over the camera between scenes. Dorky, huh? Here I have the final video, and I also posted the first just because it's too funny. Enjoy!

Stinkin' Cute!

A few more pictures from the birthday party. I couldn't resist posting these.
This is the Piper's boy.

I'm hoping that is chocolate cake, but I'm not convinced.

With the wind in her hair, she actually looks likes she moving.

Opera

All day Friday, I was excited about going to the opera on Saturday. I kept telling all my coworkers I was going to see the Marriage of Figaro. Then, I'd break out singing Fiiiiiiiigaro, Figaro, Figaro, Figaro. Then they'd look at me like I was crazy. Apparently, not everyone is fond of opera (or my singing).

The last opera I went to I was 7 years old. I went with the Girl Scouts to the Santa Fe opera. My memory is very poor, but I remember the evening was gorgeous, I really liked my dress, and I didn't have much of a clue as to what was going on with the plot. At Furr's cafeteria afterwards, and I ate waaaaaay too much. The girl scouts dropped me off at my home late at night. I threw my Furr's dinner up on the bathroom floor, our dog, Bell cleaned it up for me and I went to bed. It's kind of a bizzare memory, but I did enjoy the opera (and I never ate that much again!)

Ah yes! Today is my Mom's 51st birthday! Give her a hard time :)

And Mezzo! I learned what mezzo means!

Robotics Championship

I went up to the city to visit Lindsay and Shay on Saturday. We were looking for some fun, cheap entertainment. Shay read in the Gazette where they were having the High School Robotics Championship at the Cox center. I was expecting a science fair type set-up where every group displayed what their robot could do. Not this. This was a ballgame (of sorts)! It took us a while to figure out the rules. In fact, we had to ask one of the parents and even then we were a little sketchy on the details! It was exciting, though. They had a are you ready to ruuuumble!?! announcer and loud music. Kids and school mascots were dancing. They even had a half time show - these two kids doing tricks with a huge yo-yo type contraption (a little nerdy, but fascinating too).

Another one?!

I came home to yet another dog, yesterday. But this one is for Grandma. It's a good thing too, because I'm about dogged out. I'm even sick of posting about dogs! Anyway, this is the new feller. We've been calling him Tiny Tim for now. He looks meek enough, but he's been whooping it up on Jack - kinda funny ;)

And the winner is...

When naming a dog, special consideration should be given to creativity, meaningfulness, and pleasantness in the articulation of the name. We burned ourselves out coming up with THE perfect name for the new puppy, so we just started calling him Jack. Yep, Jack which is completely unimaginative, meaningless (unless the nipper is tagged on), and boring to say (except this morning - Dad was saying Jack like Balboa in Pirates of the Caribbean). Anyhoo, I want to thank everyone for casting their vote or suggesting other names. I hope that after all the build-up and suspense, you aren't too disappointed!

Oh yeah, in that second picture you might notice that his collar is around one arm. That's how I found the little goofball when I came home yesterday. I suppose it's kind of Jack Sparrowish of him.
